On the SkillsLab blog, we’ve covered various Instagram articles.

What we haven’t covered already, are Instagram content ideas that you can start doing right away.

In this article, you’ll discover seven different content creation ideas that will help you create even more interesting content. These ideas are also likely to help you succeed with growing your Instagram followers and increasing engagement.

7 Instagram Content Ideas You Can Start Doing Right Now

1 – Behind-the-scenes

Everyone finds it interesting to what happens behind the scene, why not share that with your followers? It will help them better understand what you do and may even start a conversation. If your role isn’t the most interesting, then why not see if you can show off what your colleagues do. I’m sure there is at least one thing behind the scenes that will be of interest for your viewers.

2 – Quotes

I manage the Creation Agency Instagram and one piece of content that does exceptionally well are quotes. Not just any quotes, but business, marketing and sales, leadership and inspirational quotes.

For the best engagement, make sure to create your own designs, that way you can ensure they are eye-catching and makes your followers want to re-share your content.

Quotes are also the most “saved” content on our Instagram.

3 – User Generated Content

Depending on your business, you may be able to reshare user-generated content. For example, if you’re a hotel, you may reshare pictures from when your guests stayed over and took some of the view or other content during their stay.

This is what I did for when staying at Revere Boston and Von Resort, both of which reshared my content.

User-generated content is brilliant due to various reasons, these include;

  • Free content that you can share to promote your brand/service, with credit to the original user.
  • Some people are more likely to trust others than a brand sharing their own content.
  • Everyone loves to be featured on a brand’s social media in a positive way, this will encourage others to share their pictures of your brand/service.

4 – Listicles

Listicles are known to do really well and they’re super easy to create.

Why not consider making some for Instagram?

It’s important to have some change in your Instagram content, see what works well.

Spice it up a little.

Here is an example of a great listicle Instagram post.

Very simple, yet people quite enjoy reading that type of content. You can even make them from your blog posts by using the key titles of each section. For example, like this one here.

5 – Blog Posts

Unfortunately, as Instagram doesn’t allow users to include clickable links in each post, you need to think of other ways to share your most interesting new blog posts.

Of course, pasting the copy in a caption could work, but you’re still limited on how many characters you can use and it may end up looking too much.

Instead, be creative. Experiment with your content.

6 – Interviews – influencers/colleagues

If you’ve been following Lewis Howes, you’ll notice he shares a lot of his interviews from his podcast. Lewis shares them not only on his Instagram but on Facebook and Twitter too.

Consider interviewing some key influencers in your industry. You could also interview your fellow colleagues and let them share their top tips, stories etc. Plenty of content right there!

7 – Collaborating

Collaborating with influencers in your industry is a great way to share interesting content that your audience might enjoy, but also be able to grow your following and increase publicity.

Your influencer might share some content featuring your product/service or mention you in their caption, which you can then reshare, or you might post a specific piece of content featuring them, for example, their top tip or a short interview.

Stamp Travel, an iPhone and Android app that shares travel tips and information reached out to me to see if they could re-share one of my pictures along with a travel tip which their Instagram audience may find useful.

Stamp #728 – Gibraltar 🇬🇮: Taxis & Monkeys 🐒 🚕 When visiting Gibraltar, make sure you book a taxi tour operator at Casemont square, they’re about £25/€30 and will drive you up the Gibraltar rock to see the monkeys, the WW1 and WW2 tunnels in the rock and also see the beautiful views! It works out cheaper than the cable car Thank you @garethgoesplaces for your #ShareYourStamp!! ✈️🌎 For more awesome #travel and #wanderlust tips and #adventure download the Stamp Travel #App Today. This was a win-win. They had more content to share on their profile and I received more publicity and followers from them.
